Posted at 25. August, 12:21 Uhr by oanadinca with 0 comments

The European Youth Press is selecting 10 young journalists to participate in the Young Press conference organised by Evens Foundation and StampMedia in Antwerp, Belgium, from the 27th to the 29th of October.

The conference offers young European reporters a superb opportunity to express their views on the media and journalism and to build up contacts with their peers. The event will focus on the following topics: the omnipresence of instant media, the threat on high-quality journalism, the spread of biased information and on new models and experimentation by independent journalists.  Renowned speakers such as Robert Fisk, Sylvie Kauffman, Henk Blanken, Annabel McGoldrick, Alex Wood, Olaf Koens and Ingrid Lieten are expected to attend.

If you are a young journalist aged 18-26 engaged with these topics and have some journalistic experience please send your CV, motivation letter and a material you’ve produced to a.berga@youthpress.org by the 1st of September.  The material can be anything from an article to a video, audio or photo feature. Where the materials are not in English, a short summary in English should be provided.  Young journalists who have been already engaged with the European Youth Press and/or its member organizations will receive priority. All costs are covered by the organizers of the conference. Participants will have to pay a participation fee of 100 Euros.

The deadline has been extended until the 20th of August. Check out the conditions and read all the details below!

Update: only 5 days left until the deadline. Apply now!

How do you create balanced reports from conflict zones where things can change in a matter of minutes? How do you know who is telling you the truth? How can journalists get their facts right? What is the relationship between media coverage and human rights in such conflicts?

If these are questions that interest you then we invite you to apply to become one of the 60 young journalists, aged between 18 and 30, reporting from inside the European Parliament in Brussels on Oct. 18-20.

Participants will experience three days of creativity and innovation through political discussions, hands-on media workshops and invaluable insights into the European Parliament and the European media. They will interact with high-level European politicians, professional journalists and experts and engage in intercultural exchange through practical work and evening cultural activities.

Over the course of the three-day workshop, each young journalist will produce a report on the topic of the seminar through their medium of choice - audio, video, print, online or photography. The workshop is organised by the European Parliament and the European Youth Press and is open to citizens and legal residents of the EU member states.

Costs

Travel will be reimbursed by the European Parliament. Accommodation and board will be covered through a lump sum also provided by the European Parliament.

Application and deadline

Applications deadline is August 15.

Please apply by sending a CV, a motivation letter and a few media clips (of any type) to a.berga@youthpress.org . The European Youth Press aims to ensure the participation of young journalists from all 27 member states.
