The UNAOC (United Nations Alliance of Civilizations) is seeking a video producer/editor/scriptwriter.

The UNAOC (United Nations Alliance of Civilizations) is seeking a video producer/editor/scriptwriter to assist with developing a 20-minute video (approximate length) showing examples of good integration of migrants in Italy and shifting the focus of the immigration debate towards the human side of the story.

The video will be enriched with pictures of migrants and will be finalized as a comprehensive product (book/leaflet/DVD) which will be used as a generic tool for promoting a positive image of migration.

The UNAOC is willing to promote the product on a national level through schools, film festivals, and eventually TV channels. The product will also be translated and advertised in European countries as a successful tool that can be replicated in order to counter polarizing speech and stereotypes about migrants.

Deadline: Sunday, August 14

How do you create balanced reports from conflict zones where things can change in a matter of minutes? How do you know who is telling you the truth? How can journalists get their facts right? What is the relationship between media coverage and human rights in such conflicts? If these are questions that interest you then we invite you to apply to become one of the 60 young journalists, aged between 18 and 30, reporting from inside the European Parliament in Brussels on Oct. 18-20. Participants will experience three days of creativity and innovation through political discussions, hands-on media workshops and invaluable insights into the European Parliament and the European media. They will interact with high-level European politicians, professional journalists and experts and engage in intercultural exchange through practical work and evening cultural activities. Over the course of the three-day workshop, each young journalist will produce a report on the topic of the seminar through their medium of choice - audio, video, print, online or photography. The workshop is organised by the European Parliament and the European Youth Press and is open to citizens and legal residents of the EU member states. Travel will be reimbursed by the European Parliament. Accommodation and board will be covered through a lump sum also provided by the European Parliament. The European Youth Press aims to ensure the participation of young journalists from all 27 member states. Preview the European Daily

The absence of a European public sphere has been discussed for decades. Now, a group of dedicated young Europeans has decided to do something about it.

Over the past decades Europe has grown ever more interconnected. It is a big part of our daily lives. Yet, strangely, daily news is still largely covered from national perspectives. Borders no longer prevent us from moving around the continent freely, but they still manage to isolate debates and hold back the free flow of ideas and arguments. The absence of a European public sphere has been discussed for decades. Now, a group of dedicated young Europeans has decided to do something about it.

On 15 June they published a "preview edition" of the European Daily, a "daily newspaper for Europe". 40 000 copies were distributed in Brussels, London, Paris and Berlin. Launching a pan-European daily newspaper is a daunting project, especially in these difficult times for both Europe and the newspaper industry. However, this is something Europe needs more now than maybe ever before. The team behind the European Daily aims to launch the daily edition all across Europe by the end of the year.

You can find more information and a PDF version of the preview edition on their website: http://europeandaily.com and let them know what you think about the prospect of a European daily newspaper on their support page: http://europeandaily.com/support/

You can also watch a short video showing how the preview edition was produced, printed and distributed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2qqrkpvSmw
